NO TOOLS NEEDED! Once we had the pieces out of the box, my teenage son had it put together in literally less than 2 minutes. The pieces just slide into grooves and it is very solid once the box springs/mattress are on top! Also, the metal definitely looks high quality, like it will not sag or bend over time (which is why I replaced our last one). The bed seems very level now and doesn't make a sound. My only difficulty (which is why I took off a star - because I think they should have thought of that when designing a rolling bed frame) is the headboard issue. Once our headboard was bolted on (and we did it at the highest level possible), the rollers won't work because the legs of our metal headboard rest on the carpet. I bought some furniture sliders to put under them thinking that would help, but it didn't work and now I have a bunch of furniture sliders I don't need.
